559CCW offers Madera County CCW online classroom training for initial and renewal applicants. The initial course is $125 and the renewal course is $95. Live-fire qualification is completed in person.
Francisco “Paco” Villarreal, a California DOJ-certified CCW instructor and U.S. Marine Corps veteran, leads your training. Complete the online lessons within 90 days, then follow your course-completion email to book qualification with 559CCW at Fresno Rifle & Pistol Club in the Clovis area.
How the Online CCW Course Works
- Choose the $125 initial course for a first permit or the $95 renewal course for a renewal.
- Complete your online lessons, quizzes and final exam.
- Use your completion email to schedule in-person live-fire qualification with 559CCW.
- Receive your certificate after completing all training requirements and submit it according to your issuing agency’s instructions.

For an application through the Madera County Sheriff’s Office, follow its official CCW instructions. Confirm current training acceptance, fees, required documents and application timing with the agency. 559CCW provides training; the issuing agency decides whether to issue or renew your permit.

- Application & Fees: Agency fees are separate from training. Check the Madera County Sheriff’s current CCW instructions for application, renewal and modification charges.
- Training Hours: For a new standard permit you must complete 16 hours of training. For renewals, the requirement is 8 hours.
- Firearm Listing: You may list up to 6 handguns on your permit. Each listed firearm must be registered to you, and you must qualify with each.

Pass background check and interview.
Complete your online course, then schedule and pass your live-fire qualification
Once approved, pay the final fee and receive your permit.
